Entries for the 2026 Silsoe Waterslade Gardeners' Club Competitions are officially open! Three competitions to get stuck into this year, and you don't need an allotment to take part. Get your entries in by Sunday 15th June.

Who can enter

All three competitions are open to members of Silsoe Waterslade Gardeners' Club. No plot required, just enthusiasm. If you're not yet a member, you can join at the allotment shop on site. Membership is £6.50 per year and includes 10% off everything in the shop.

This year's competitions

Best Scarecrow Build a scarecrow, give it some personality, and let it stand guard, whether that's on your allotment plot or in your garden at home. Judging takes place in the first week of August.

Wonky Veg Wonky, twisted, or frankly indecent. Bring your best (or worst!) along to the Annual BBQ on Sunday 23rd August. The winner is voted on the day by fellow members.

Smashing Pumpkins Grow a pumpkin and bring it along to the allotments at Halloween. Judge Jodie will present awards for the best pumpkins, which will then be sold to raise funds for the club.

🌻 Annual BBQ & Awards Ceremony

Scarecrow and Wonky Veg winners will be announced at our Annual BBQ & Awards Ceremony on Sunday 23rd August. Tickets will be available soon, so keep an eye on the site and the WhatsApp group for the announcement. Smashing Pumpkins is judged separately at the allotments on Halloween.

Key Dates at a Glance

• Entry deadline: Sunday 15th June
